Monthly Fireside Chat with Foundation President Courtney B. Vance 8/31/20

Please watch the monthly Fireside Chat from our President Courtney B. Vance who reminds artists of our mission, gives an update to our COVID-19 Relief Fund, shares your work from our new Homestage digital archive, and reflects on the passing of fellow SAG-AFTRA performer Chadwick Boseman.

The SAG-AFTRA Foundation: We started 35 years ago with the sole mission of supporting SAG-AFTRA artists. As a non-profit charity, our Foundation provides financial assistance, and free training and classes available to every SAG-AFTRA artist, at any point in their careers.

COVID-19 Relief Fund: Since March, we’ve managed to give over $5.7 million in emergency aid to over 6,100 SAG-AFTRA performers and counting. Applications are taking about a week to process, so as always, be sure to check the site for any and all updates. If you’re in a position to donate, please consider doing so as our Fund continues to give aid to our community. Give today: https://members.sagfoundation.org/donate

Homestage Digital Archive: We want to thank those of you who have participated in our Homestage initiative so far, and are impressed by the breadth of work and creativity. Just as a reminder, this is a social media archive that documents the various ways in which we, as SAG-AFTRA performers, are using our homes to get through our shared COVID-19 crisis. Please continue to post on social media using #HomestageSAF.

In Loving Memory of Chadwick Boseman: As both a performer and human, Chadwick Boseman represented the very best of our community. His contributions to our industry and the culture at large are undeniable, and his contributions won’t be forgotten. He joined us with his cast of MARSHALL for a Conversations to speak about the project and his craft with his fellow actors. He closed the program by sharing advice given to him by his teacher Phylicia Rashad, “Search for the love in your scene. Search for the love in your character.” You can watch the full Q&A here: https://youtu.be/mKw4em3LmB8

We salute and honor his work, and will keep his legacy alive in our collective hearts, memories, and mission.

Stay safe and connected.
