On June 09, the Opneing Ceremony of the Berlinale Summer Special 2021 took place on the Museum Island in Berlin. The opening was attended by the Minister of State for Culture, Monika Grütters, the Governing Mayor of Berlin, Michael Müller, as well as the artistic director of the Berlinale, Carlo Chatrian and the managing director of the Berlin International Film Festival, Mariette Rissenbeek. Hadnet Tesfai was the moderator for the evening.
