Travis Fimmel on “Vikings” HFPA Exclusive
Michael Hirst’s Vikings has been a runaway hit for the History Channel which has built a solid following for its saga of Norse warriors and their legendary deeds of conquest and valor (and, oh yes, rape and pillage and intrigue). The story’s protagonist is Ragnar Lothbrok, loosely based on the historical figure of the same name, a Viking farmer who rose to become a powerful clan leader, raider and explorer. He is played by aussie Travis Fimmel who has ridden his role to international fame. Fimmel is currently filming the lead role in World of Warcraft, also starring Ben Foster, Dominic Cooper and Paula Patton. In March History renewed Vikings for a third ten-episode season which is shooting in Ireland. We caught up with Fimmel on his way to the set.
