Speaking with Karen Black in 2011

In February 2011 we spoke to Karen Black at the UCLA Festival of Film Preservation. The occasion was the screening of Robert Altman’s Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean in which she gave one of her signature performances (she had previously collaborated with the director in Nashville). Gracious and radiant, she spoke to us then about Altman and about the groundbreaking ethos of American cinema in the 1960’s and 70’s, a creative and artistic movement on which she left an indelible mark.
