About the films:
« Songs of the Shirt »: As a choir that doesn’t gain visibility and as a film whose surface is pierced, the Songs appear as intervention, as disruption or interruption, like Luddites of film.
« Lost On Arrival »: After retiring, a man wants to return to the Caribbean island where he once lived. Advancing dementia ruins his plans. He moves there but never really arrives.
« Fury Is a Feeling Too »: A personal and cathartic examination of the filmmaker’s situation as a foreigner in Berlin. The aggressive tone of the film is reinforced by shots of destroyed buildings, post-war architecture, and the discordant character of Maurice Weddington’s music.
« Night for Day »: « Night for Day » uses a fake mother-son relationship to imagine a communist birthing a techno utopian, gender performativity through a lens of women living clandestinely during Portuguese dictatorship and the Last Woman as the fem bot from “The Tales of Hoffmann”.
