Berlinale Shorts section head Anna Henckel-Donnersmarck met with Michael Omunua, Émilie Vandenameele, Nicolas Keppens, John Greyson and Ana Elena Tejera, directors of « Rehearsal », « Young Hearts », « Easter Eggs », « International Dawn Chorus Day » and « A Love Song in Spanish ». Screening in the 2021 Berlinale Shorts programme.
About the film:
Rehearsal: How do you stage a miracle healing? Boundaries dissolve between church and theatre, faith and credibility.
Young Hearts: A film about the drama that is puberty, as unpredictable as the emotional roller coaster of its protagonists.
Easter Eggs: The parrots have escaped and Jason sets off in search of them, together with his friend Kevin. The portrait of a toxic friendship unfolds, depicted in broken colours.
International Dawn Chorus Day: Birds from six continents in an online video call share speculations about the deaths of Egyptian filmmaker Shady Habash and queer activist Sarah Hegazi.
A Love Song in Spanish: The effects of the military dictatorship have silenced whole families, so deeply have their traumatic experiences become inscribed. But the body does not forget – neither the torture, nor the dancing. A filmmaker’s tender portrait of her grandparents.
