Powerful moments during our screening of “Courage” on Friday: Pictures of political prisoners in Belarus were held up in the crowd. Opposition politician Sviatlana Tsihanouskaya was also present together with imprisoned political activist Maria Kalesnikava’s sister Tatiana Khomich and Nobel laureate Svetlana Alexievich to show support.
The political documentary “Courage” by Aliaksei Paluyan uses the example of three theatre actors to depict the mass protests against Lukashenko – as a historical opportunity, a personal trauma and a dream of humanity. As the filmmakers say: It takes courage to survive in a country like Belarus.
